Is Teen Patti poker?
No — but the nickname “Indian poker” is fair. Both are betting games with blinds/antes, raises, folds and showdowns, and poker instincts (pot odds, reading stakes, folding discipline) transfer well. The differences: Teen Patti has no community cards, no position play and only 3 cards, so hands resolve faster and luck swings harder. If you know poker, you can learn Teen Patti in minutes — start with the rules and hand ranks.
Is Teen Patti rummy?
No — they share only a deck of cards and Indian popularity. Rummy (how to play) has no betting rounds: you draw, discard and race to meld sequences and sets; the skill is pattern recognition and memory. Teen Patti has no melding: you bet, bluff and compare fixed 3-card hands; the skill is wagering psychology. Different brains, different evenings.
